Samurai School Kamae no kata

Mu Te Shin Do Kamae no kata

We use a variation of the Kamae no kata developed by Master Instructor Bo Munthe for his Mu Te Ryu (and earlier ninjutsu) students.  Please note that our kata differs slightly from Mu Te Ryu and some kamae could greatly vary from what might be considered authentic ninjutsu.  We use this kata both as a teaching aid to communicate positions of movement (including starting positions) and to aid personal practise.  Remember our attitudes and emotions extend through the kamae, and as such becomes an external representation of the spirit; if your spirit is distracted, your kamae is weak.  Some ninjutsu practitioners refer to kamae as a kind of bait, which can be used to limit an attackers choices or lure them closer and/or into a false sense of security.
